MERGING DIGITAL INFORMATION AND PHYSICAL ARCHITECTURE

‘The sensitive Tapestry’ project incorporates the digital component into the physical space. Heat and cold, stimulus and calmness, openness and protection, light and shade influenced the appearance of ‘The sensitive Tapestry’. Like a chameleon it adapts to its surroundings.

In groups, the aproximatiley 30 students were assigned to design their own tapestry which interacts with both passing people and the attributes of the building. The work was produced during a 3 hour workshop every monday from Sep 08 to Dec 08.

Common tools like Processing and Openframeworks were used to augment the building by the virtual dimension.

Many of the participants didn’t have any special knowledge in information technologies. Thanks to a great amount of curiosity, motivation and initiative, combined with architectural knowledge, the course revealed some impressive works.
